During my years of consumer research and exploration of health and wellness I noted a curious pattern emerge. The various health regimes I adopted, whether vitamins, super green foods, Chinese herbs, or homeopathic remedies, seemed to stop working.
There was no question of my commitment and dedication to my newly adopted health regime but it was obvious that the benefits seem to diminish after a period of time. Perhaps, my body's capacity to utilize and absorb nutrients was a factor. While on the cutting edge of my journey, I was taking a patented, high performance anti-aging supplement and freshly frozen super "uber" greens.
My experience with alternative and complementary medicines were similar to that of vitamin supplementation and diet. Whether it be acupuncture, chiropractic or various types of body work, I would clearly "hit a ceiling" when I instinctively knew I had gained the maximum benefit and it was time to move on.
It can be discouraging to experience health benefits and healing for a time and then seemingly stop getting the same results you once did. Rather than be disappointed, this may be a clue that your body has done everything it possibly can with your present health regime. It is very likely that you have made progress with your health and healing regimen, and you can be reassured that your body's innate intelligence will lead you to the next step, as needed.
Progressive levels of health and wellness can be achieved by allowing your body's innate intelligence to be your guide. Whatever regimen you are currently employing: vitamin supplementation, nutrition, diet, or holistic methods, this will set the stage for the next level of health. In some cases imbalances in the body can prevent proper absorption and utilization of vitamins and nutrients.
Your body's ability to absorb and utilize nutrition will be a factor in your overall state of health. The body's healing intelligence is always seeking a state of balance. Paying attention to your body's signals is a simple but powerful way to progressively improve your health.
Demanding lifestyles and age will likely determine how you vary your health regimen. Since the early days of my health exploration the entire wellness industry has progressed in the most remarkable ways. With progress has come countless choices for vitamins and health products.
Science and technology is now taking some of the guess work out of how we choose our vitamins. Labs can test the urine, saliva or blood to give you an indication of where you may have nutritional or hormonal deficiencies. In a relatively short time we've arrived at the point where your genes can be tested for how well you are going to age.
Assessing your genetic predisposition for disease and addressing your lifestyle demands is now the way forward in heath and wellness. Health conscious consumers are looking to science and research to determine which vitamins will address these specific ares of health:
* Bone and Joint health
* Cardiovascular health
* Neurological health
* Immune System
* Energy and Vitality
* Anti-Aging and skin products
* Sleep and Anxiety
* Sexual function
Science will continue to make advances and breakthroughs while your body carries out the business of healing itself. Keep approaching your health and wellness with an open mind knowing that you can always make improvements and reach your goals. Varying your health regimen for the different stages of your life and lifestyle is the most sensible approach. My approach is one of "complementary", meaning, where there is a lack, seek to complete it.

Because I'm over 50 and past menopause, I know that my body is deficient especially in the area of calcium so I work to supplement those deficiencies. However, I have found that because I have always considered good nutrition paramount; i.e., cooking from scratch and eating fresh wholesome food from all food groups, my primary deficiency is calcium. In addition to eating a lot of broccoli and eating yogurt daily, I am taking a vitamin with calcium and I have no real problems.It worries me that so many people don't understand the value of proper nutrition and live on a diet of packaged foods or McDonalds!Thanks for sharing,Nancy
